Sourdough bread has been used for thousands of years, in many cultures, to nourish people as a staple of their diets.  With just three ingredients needed: flour, water, and salt it has always been simple to produce sourdough loaves.

The popularity of making sourdough at home in the last few years has led to an increase in the availability of information online, making it even easier for people to get into this hobby.  Some may be looking at the health benefits of sourdough and others just like being able to make fresh bread at home.

Here at Merlin, sometimes work spills over into our hobbies, with some of us maintaining our own sourdough starters (plus one available at work) and making our own sourdough bread at home.  We would encourage others to try it out as well, the results are delicious!
